WHAT DOES (DA) MEAN ON SCHEDULE OF CLASSES?

(DA) means Director Approval.  Only those students who have Director Approval may enroll in these classes.

SHOULD I BRING MY DANCER TO CLASS IF THEY ARE NOT FEELING WELL?

For the protection of our dance students and Instructors, do not bring a child to class who appears to be ill. Children who have had the following symptoms within the last 24 hours should not attend class and will not be permitted into a classroom.

° Fever (Dancers must be fever free, with no form of fever reducer used for 24 hours)

° Vomiting or diarrhea

° Green or cloudy, runny nose

° Runny or pink eyes

° Inflamed throat or mouth

° Croup, coughing, or sneezing

° Any skin infections such as boils, unexplained rash, staph, ringworms, lice, or impetigo

° Symptoms of childhood diseases (scarlet fever, mumps, chicken pox, or measles)

If a student is diagnosed with an infectious illness, please notify the D4HG Directors at your earliest convenience.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE FOR CLASS?

Yes, each dancer is expected to wear the required Dance wear, Shoes and have hair in a bun with no bangs. The required Dance wear list can be found on the Dress CodeTab. After September 1st, Teachers will make reminders of the dress code by sending a note home with a student who is not properly attired for class.  If a student does not come to class properly attired after 3 reminders they will be asked to sit out and observe the class.

WHY IS DRESS CODE SO IMPORTANT?

Dance is a discipline. Adherence to the dress code enforces the classroom etiquette to help to create order in class. Dress code also limits distractions in class, and helps the Teacher to easily spot lines and movements that need to be adjusted/corrected. Hair in a bun for Ballet reinforces the discipline of Dance and also keeps hair out of the face to lessen distractions for the Dancer. If hair is too short for a bun, you may wear clips or bobby pins to secure hair away from face or wear a head band.

WHERE CAN I PURCHASE THE REQUIRED DANCE WEAR?

You can purchase the required dance wear and shoes from the Dress Code tab. To save you time and money, and to ensure you are purchasing the correct items for your Dancer, click on the link for your class on the dress code tab, and follow the instructions to purchase your dancewear and shoes easily online.

PLEASE NOTE:  Online shoe size chart will suggest the appropriate size to order with little to no growing room.

To allow for growing room, we recommend ordering at least 1 full size larger than size chart suggests. Sizing leotards and shoes are available to try on outside the Directors office (room B223) Mon 2:30-8pm, Tues. 9am-7:30pm and Thurs 3pm-7:30pm.

CAN WE MAKE UP A CLASS WE MISS?

Yes, If a student is absent, they may make up their time in another class in their same age/level class.  Please click on the schedule of classes button to select a convenient, age appropriate class for your dancer, or email info@d4hg.com for assistance. There is no pro-rating of tuition if a class is missed.  As recital nears, it is especially important for all students to attend their class regularly to ensure that they are comfortable and confident to perform their Recital dances.

DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY FULL MONTHS TUITION IF MY CHILD MISSES CLASS?

Yes, you are responsible for paying the full months tuition each month while your child is enrolled in Dance. Tuition is based on total number lessons per year and divided into 10 equal monthly payments for your convenience.  Holidays and inclement weather days are taken into account when the yearly number of classes is calculated. There is no prorating of tuition if your child misses class.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO WITHDRAW MY CHILD FROM DANCE CLASS?

We hope you would be able to finish the year with us, though we understand schedule changes, relocation, etc.  If a dancer drops a class, a 30 day written notice is required. You'll be responsible for your tuition payment until the written notice is received. Email info@d4hg.com to give your 30 days written notice. (It is not sufficient to drop a class by just  telling the teacher!) Up to 30 days after receiving written notice, your account and credit card information will be deleted from the computer. The Registration Fee is non-refundable and May 2024 prepayment is non-refundable after August 31st. The costume fee is not refundable after November 1st.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF WE ARRIVE AFTER CLASS HAS ALREADY BEGUN?

We understand that things happen and we all run late at times. If you arrive after class has started, take a deep breath and relax! Your Dancer can become stressed if you are stressed! Make sure your Dancer has the correct shoes on, and other shoes in hand (if it is a combination class that requires another dance shoe). Knock on the door and wait for the teacher to invite your Dancer into the class. This causes the least amount of distraction for the whole class and allows your Dancer time to compose herself before entering the class.

MAY I ENTER THE DANCE ROOM?

Parents, Grandparents and Siblings, etc. may only enter the dance room if the Teacher has specifically invited you into the class. Please do not ask to enter. Only Teachers, Assistants, Directors and Dancers are allowed in the dance rooms. Not only is this good classroom etiquette, but the Teachers, Assistants, Directors and Dancers have all been screened prior to entering, to provide a controlled environment for everyone in the classroom.

WHAT IF MY DANCERS STARTS TO CRY AFTER I LEAVE HIM/HER IN THE DANCE ROOM?

Most of our preschool classes have an Assistant to help the Teacher with the Dancer's needs. In the over 24 years D4HG has been in business, we have found that Dancers who are unsure might cry, but will eventually be distracted by the other dancers having so much fun that they will want to join the fun! Positive reinforcement and redirecting works well! We have also found that each time a dancer is taken out of class to be consoled, it delays the Dancer's ability to build the confidence needed to push through to experience new things. The Teacher and/or Assistant is there to comfort, reassure and empower the Dancer. If the Dancer becomes inconsolable, the Teacher or Assistant will bring the Dancer to the Parent in the hallway where they can watch the class through the window, or regroup and join the class next week.

WHAT IF MY DANCER IS NOT PARTICIPATING IN CLASS?

Just because a Dancers is not physically participating in class doesn't mean they are not engaged. Sometimes Dancers need a break to let it "soak in", or they might have become overstimulated. There is no need to be upset or remove a dancer from class if they are not participating. The Teacher will notify the Parent if action needs to be taken.

WHAT DO WE DO IF WE HAVE TO MISS A CLASS?

If you are absent from class, you can go to our website to see the complete list of classes. You can select a class time that is for the same age and class type as your Dance is currently enrolled in. When you come to that class, let the Teacher know that you are making up a class. You can email info@d4hg.com or call 678-961-4433 if you need assistance, or if you have any questions.

ARE THE PARENT VIEWING ROOMS OPEN TO PARENTS?

Unfortunately we do not have Parent Viewing rooms. Parents may view classes from the main door windows in the Hallway. These side rooms are being used as holding rooms for the Dancers. Please do not enter these rooms without express consent of the Directors.

WHAT HOLIDAYS ARE OBSERVED AND WHAT ABOUT INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSINGS?

We follow Cherokee County School Calendar for most of their school Closings including Labor Day, Fall Break, the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas Break, MLK Jr. Day, Winter Break and Spring Break. D4HG is OPEN for Halloween and Presidents Day. D4HG is required to close for certain FBCW campus wide activities throughout the year. We will notify you of these closings as quickly as possible. We follow Cherokee County Schools (and FBCW) for inclement weather closings and early dismissals. Visit the Calendar Tab for a complete listing!
